For one, the place was packed and all Laney wanted to do was walk....no, run. When women are knee-deep in conversation, they aren't watching where they step, for little 15 month toddlers weaving in and out of everyone. Plus, almost everyone had coffee in their hands, so hot coffee spilling on Laney was the unpleasant thought that kept me chasing after her. Whilst running about, she wanted to grab every non-baby-proofed item within her reach, such as floor vases, punch cups, glass candle holders, picture frames, eating wrapping paper, running with pens and plastic cutlery in her mouth, opening bathroom cabinets where there was cleaner in there,...oh, the list goes on and on. Just even trying to eat, much less hold a conversation was unbelievably difficult. Whew. I learned my lesson. No matter how desperate I am for fellowship/adult conversations, in the future if I have Laney, I will drop off the gift and stay about fifteen minutes, enough time to hug a neck and snag a cookie. Despite the uphill battle, I really did enjoy seeing everyone and being there for Andi. I love going to showers!!
Here's my friend Meg tickling Laney's thighs! She was giggling up a storm!

Notice I have Laney strapped in our travel booster seat. When I snapped the buckle, I said out loud, "PRAISE THE LORD! You can't go anywhere!" She only stayed in there for about five minutes, but those were five minutes of glory!

Girl, do I EVER know how you were feeling! And now, with two girls, I just don't even go to events unless Jeff can keep one of them! It is definitely a workout.
And, if you want to know a secret, I actually throw the kids in the car sometimes and drive to Sonic just to get a coke, and be able to sit quietly for a few minutes, with them safely strapped in to their seats. They usually calm down during the car ride, and I get a few minutes to be still and think. :)
Love you!

it's funny we used to make appointments to exercise together...now you just exercise all of the time!
TOTALLY know the feeling, excpet it changes when they are older-you'll see what i mean. it is just easier not to attend some things when their daddy's aren't there to tag-team it with us, huh?! :)
we are SO glad you came though, and we all loved laney's little smiling face so much, as always. it wouldn't have been the same without you both!
muc love, chica.

Wow, can I relate. When Justin is working, I often have to convince myself to go to things because Abigail can be such a handful. But, in the end it is so worth it -most of the time.
