Quick Update

Here are a few pics on our camera that we snapped yesterday. I have more to post from Nana and Lauren's camera that we borrowed while in the hospital. How are we doing? Well. I'm feeling so much better!! Mattie is doing great. Laney is a bit clingy and needy though. And I haven't seen Hugh more healthy in two months. He does still have a cough here and there, but he's on the mend. What a month August has been for us. Whew. But I have never enjoyed such every day life as I have this week. Get sick and go stay in the hospital, away from your little one,

Finally I was able to come outside and breathe in the cool, Fall air. The weather here has been BEAUTIFUL these past few days. This beats having a baby in December ANY DAY!

Hugh-Daddy loving on his girls -- notice the "smooth-operator" baby face he's sporting!

These past two weeks have been very hard on Laney, with us being gone for over a week, her being tossed from friends, to family, to more family, us coming home with Mattie after not having seen us in forever, and Laney being off her schedule and battling allergies/congestion while we were gone. I had only been away from Laney for one night, and we were only 30 minutes away at a bed and breakfast in Raleigh, so being away from her for over a week, unexpectedly, was a bit tough on us all. She looves her little sister, kisses on her, tells her not to worry when she cries and that everything will be okay. When we are holding her or if I am nursing her, Laney wants to be in my lap too, and it hurts her feelings when I tell her to wait. She's such a sweet big sister, and I look forward to incorporating ways she can help me take care of Mattie. Here's Laney playing dress-up in her "princess box" full of jewelry.

I was taking this picture myself with Mattie in my lap, so that's why Laney's face is cut off. It would have been a great one had it been centered.

Laney is sporting her new pink shoes from Nana. I can't believe it, but her foot measured at a size 8!!! In the week we were gone, Laney's hair grew (seriously), she was saying all kinds of words that she never said before, and she even looked older in her face when I saw her. Crazy!

It's going to be hard for a while, but you'll all find your groove soon enough. I love the pictures. I agree, August was a rough month. But, praise God Mattie is in the world now.
