Fireworks in Wake Forest

Last night we went to see the fireworks in Wake Forest, and watching Laney's excitement as she saw each firework, made this July 4th Celebration the best yet. My friend Ashley captured most of these pictures.

Below is the picture she snapped of Hugh and I. We rarely ever get pictures together, and I just love this one. I'm leaning back, so it's not a good belly shot, but love the picture! I'm surprised at how much my bulbous belly flattened out just by leaning back.

Here's Lanes sitting on top of Dan Davis' head. Ha! I've never quite seen a child sit on someone's head instead of their shoulders. Dan and Hugh work together and Dan's wife and daughter were out of town. He did only what came natural to him: playing with kiddos. He was missing his little girl Lana, so he played with Laney.

She sure was giddy! I wish you could have only heard what she was saying and how she was "oo-ing and ahh-ing" at the fireworks. It was precious.

Laney RAN and RAN and RAN with the other kiddos last night. She literally made laps around the parents over and over to the point where her hair was matted to her head in sweat.

I draped her jacket around her shoulders to try and keep some of the mosquitos off of her. She's a mosquito magnet! I love how she held her jacket together in front.

Here she is with her friend Kate. Kate is so sweet to Laney and of course, Laney follows her every move.
