Potty Training, Day Two

Last night I slept horribly. All I could think about was Laney sleeping in urine-saturated pj's for hours. I dug through the storage boxes and found Laney's baby monitor. I plugged that in before I went to bed, so I could hear her if she stirred. I would then take her to the potty to go. I can't TELL you how many times I woke up, tossing and turning. I heard every noise and apparently, Laney talks in her sleep. She said, "No! No!" a lot throughout the night. I'd quickly make my way to her room, tripping over pillows and toys in the dark. Boy did that bring back memories of year one. :) Surprisingly enough, every time I went in to check on Laney, she was dry as a bone!!! I always left her room in amazement. At 5:30 she was saying "No! No!" so I again made my way to her room. I took her to the potty this time and to no avail. She kept saying "Pee-Pee" and crying (from sheer exhaustion)...(me too..LOL)...but not a drop. So, we snuggled a bit in our bed and again to no avail. After a few fingers in my mouth and little fingers tapping on my front teeth, I knew we were up for the morning. Boy was I exhausted.

As Daddy fixed breakfast, and I tinkered with picking up, all the while keeping one eyeball on Laney, I heard her say, "I pee-pee!" I dropped everything, scooped her up, ran to the bathroom saying "Yeah Laney! Yeah Laney!" After sitting on the potty for a few seconds, while I threw the soiled panties in the tub area and ran some warm water for her wash cloth, all of a sudden I noticed a "surprised" expression on her face. I was hoping it was that she was going in the potty. When she stood up, I saw a VERY full potty!!!!!!!!!!!!! You just don't hear the tinkle fall when she's sitting on a little potty, like you do when tinkle falls into water on the big potty. She stood up, looked in the potty and said with a HUGE smile on her face, "I pee-pee!!!!!!!! I pee-pee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" She was very excited and proud of herself. We were too!

Well, that's where we are now, so I'll have to save room for more potty stories throughout the day. I think day two is going to be a blast and full of potty victories!!! Let's hope we tackle going number two today!

Hang in there girl! I am so inspired that I might just try this soon myself! 2 in diapers is no fun at all! My pediatrician gave me an article about potty training in 3 days, I wonder if it is the same one. It sounds like it. Good job to you and keep us posted on how it's going!! Sounds awesome!

Keep up the hard work, Holls! You're going to love it that she's going by herself.
Take a reward-nap when she does! You deserve it!
We missed you last night-for sure!
Hugh did a great job--it was a fabulous and stirring discussion.

*Loved the bread-making video, too. don't you just LOVE it when she cooks with you? That's one of my most favorite things to do with my Anna Kate.
LOL.
