Potty Training - Day 3

After reading this potty training article, I was confident that it was going to work with Laney. I didn't think it was going to work THIS WELL, but I am so thankful that is has been such a great learning/transition time for all of us.

Last night, Laney's second night with only the thin big girl panties, she woke up at midnight stirring and a little cranky. I ran in there and mentioned the "potty". As a whole, I should never ask her if she needs to go, except in the middle of the night and before bedtime, and the reason is #1 kids like to feel like they are in control, #2 they love to say "no" to everything and #3, the main reason is that they will have a hard time discerning (esp in three days) the "feeling" of having to go. THat's why I TELL her to tell Mommy if she has to go. So, last night after mentioning the potty, she said the classic Laney phrase, "oh yeah." She sat down and nothing. Once we stepped back in her room, she started crying, reaching for the door and saying "Pee-pee!! Pee-pee!" And off we headed back to the bathroom. I had the lights dim so as not to wake her up fully, but she was a bit scared, so I held her close and we snuggled and rocked on the potty for 4-5 minutes. There's nothing sweeter than rocking yoru child on the toilet. LOL. I turned the light on, helped her on the toilet and after about ten seconds of silence, she started going and emptied the WHOLE BLADDER into the toilet. I was sooooooooooooooo proud of her. Right then, I knew I was going to have a restful rest of the night. Ahh..it was wonderful. Once again, she woke up dry. I'm so proud of her. How does she just "know" all of a sudden, even on day one, to just NOT PEE in her sleep. I only told her "keep your panties dry Laney. Tell Mommy WHEN you have to go pee-pee."

This morning at 6:30 (the person who made up the time change DEFINITELY didn't have children), I woke up to the sound of Laney singing "Jesus Loves Me" through the monitor. She is just so precious.

She's been up almost two hours and hasn't gone potty, so we'll see what day three has in store for us! Does anyone have any advice about traveling around potty-training time? I have family 2.5 hours away in Virginia and I'm hesitant to even entertain the idea of heading up that way right after this wonderful pt-ing time. I would be so sad to see her revert back to her old ways just because I changed her scenery for a few days. But just curious to hear what you've read.

Here's a little video of what we do during potty-training while trapped inside the house for THREE DAYS! Oh and be sure to notice the plastic covering our rugs. I really am so glad we did this! More on it later. Enjoy the video! Tootles!

That singing is precious! Have you put up a video of her singing, "This train is bound for glory?" That's my favorite!
