Summer Fun --18 months!

Bare feet, burgers and basketball-- What a perfect description of summer-time! To truly perfect the summer description, sweet tea on ice MUST be added to the mix. Today Laney is 18 months!! Happy Birthday Laney! Here are some pictures of the last few weeks.

Here's a homemade crust I made for our peanut butter pie. I made it out of our milled grain, which can be a bit crumbly like a graham craker crust. The freshly milled grain made for a wholesome, delicious taste! Mm!
More pictures from our visit with Matt (Hugh's brother) and Lauren:

Matt reading a book to Laney. This is the way to her heart.

Sometimes after Laney's nap, she can be a bit grumpy if she sleeps for a three hours or more. On this particular day, she was definitely a little grumpy. She would cry if Matt even looked at her. Matt found another way to her heart besides reading a book to her. Balloons! He got a mylar balloon and just started tossing and tapping it into the air and Laney found that so funny. She then hopped down from my lap, walked over to Matt, held up her arms and immediately snuggled up to him by putting her head on his shoulder. This was the first time she actually went to Matt and as you can tell by Matt's expression, he was overjoyed. From that moment on, they were best friends.

Laney loves climbing things. She's now managed to climb up into our adriondack chairs that we have in the backyard. Since they are plastic chairs, I have to make sure she doesn't sit on one side and the whole chair go toppling over. I have more pictures coming of her climbing our furniture in the house. Crazy how strong she is at 18 months!

Only a confident grilling-man can wear a pink-flowery apron. Go Matt go!

Yes, we are now THAT family that has plastic taped to the driver's window. The motor died in the driver's window, and thankfully, my husband is one handy man. He ordered the parts, whipped out the owner's manual, studied up on how to replace a window motor and other things as well, and completed the job! Way to go baby! Matt and I took turns being the window holder, as that job can create a burnage, if you will, in the "upper extremeties of the arm, around the deltoid area".

Here's Matt, Lauren and Laney chilling on the couch, just-a reading.

One last pic before heading back down to Georgia. Thanks for a fantasitc visit Uncle Matt and Aunt Lauren!

Can't believe Laney is 18 months already! Seems like it was just yesterday when I came to your baby shower!

Great post! Awesome pictures.

Carli loves balloons too!

How did you get Laney to keep the hairbow in? Carli pulls them out and says no while handing them to me!

Carli hasn't started the climbing yet!

EVERYTIME I see pics of Laney I say I wish her and Lydia could meet. You could just totally replace Laney's pic with one of Lydia standing on the chair and making that face. They are just alike! Laney is absolutely adorable!
