Caleb turned 25 years old (I know, he's such a young'n)....(oops! he just corrected me in the comments. He turned 26!) while we were in the mountains. Kimberly wanted to cook him a really big breakfast in honor of his birthday, so she did and we helped out in little ways. Here he is getting his birthday kiss from his bride. Smoooooooooooooooooch!

Let me tell ya, this girl likes to read. She'll now bring a book to you and want you to read it to her. I just love it! Just yesterday, we were out on the back deck and I was sipping on my coffee while I helped her climb the stairs. I was sipp'n coffee out of my favorite mug that has cows all over it. I know, I'm a country girl at heart. I actually got this mug free at the Sharing Shop at the Seminary. Anyhoo, she saw my mug and said, "mooo". We have been working on the cow sounds for a while now, so it was great to hear her say it all on her own without me prompting her. Later that day we were reading a book that had a calf on the page, and I asked her what does a cow say? With excitement in her eyes from knowing the answer to my question, she said, "mmoooooo!!!!!" I've often wondered when we'd get to the animal noises and now we're here. She's developing so quickly and hitting every milestone along the way. I'm so proud of her and very thankful for her understanding thus far.

Laney was sick on our trip, as you can see in the pic. She was coughing up a storm the whole time. She's still not 100% well, and we're on 2 1/2 weeks of battling two different bugs that got the best of her. Pray that she gets better soon. Thanks!

And I had to save the best pic for last. There's nothing more attractive than a man in the kitchen! Here Hugh and Caleb were baking us the notorious Carson pound cake. It's amazing and only fitting for us to eat at Himmel Hof. But I can't give out the recipe, because it's one of those family secret recipes. You'll just have to ask Hugh to make one for you. And he is the only one who makes this cake in our house. It was a challenge from his dad, who makes the cake in their home. He challenged Hugh to continue the tradition. Hugh doesn't even need a cookbook to remember the ingredients, he's made it so much. I just love my pound-cake cook'n hubbs!

Come on Now Hollie Bollie! It's 26. I know I'll never be nearly as old as Hugh, but I'm chasin' hard!
