Talking

Laney is 14.5 months and is really starting to talk. She's been talking up a storm for quite some time, but it's her own little talk. She's recently been trying to say what we say. The other day I saw her sitting on the floor, flipping through one of her books. I get so excited seeing her take the initiative to look through her books without me prompting her. I sat down and said, "Yeah Laney!! It's so important to read our books. We've got to read, read, read!" She then said while she was still studying the pages, "Ree, Ree, Ree!" She's done that twice now.

She's been walking around the house saying "Bee-bee". Hugh and I think it's "baby," but we're not certain. We just bought her two new little baby dolls yesterday, and she loves carrying them around the house. But she started saying "Bee-bee" before the dolls, so we're not certain it's "Baby," but she is definitely trying to say something if it's not Baby.

And tonight was the best word of all so far. I was blowing bubbles in the living room, watching her point, run through and try to catch the bubbles. I kept saying "Bubbles" excitedly over and over. Suddenly she said, "Bubb". After saying that a bit, she said, "Bubb-bb". We were thrilled to hear this. Then....she said it clear as day: "BU-BBLE." Hugh and I about came out of our skin we were so happy!!! Then, she said it again. Ohhhhh, I love hearing her sweet little voice say complete words. I am amazed that she won't say nose(although she will point to your nose when prompted) and she won't say bye-bye, but she will say harder words like Daisy and Bubble. She's growing up sooo fast!!!

Oh Hollie! I'm so excited for you guys - it's so amazing to watch our little girls acquire language. It opens up this whole new world to them...my favorite is when Lana tells me something, and I understand and respond appropriately - her little face lights up! It's just magical. Are you writing all these new words down? Hurry, hurry, because once they start, they don't stop!

Georgia hit a similar 'chatty' stage a couple of weeks ago. She also does not say "nose", but she will touch my nose and say honk, honk, which is what I do when she grabs my nose, so I shouldn't be surprised! My favorites of G's right now: 'kra-ker' (cracker), 'wah-bee' (water), and 'ah-main' (amen, usually before the prayer is over!). It is such fun!

That's right... once they start, don't stop! I can't even count the number of words Maggie is using (even though they're not all intelligible to anyone outside our family), and she is coming up with new ones every day! So you should keep a journal of what she's learning.

So cute... hope you can catch it on video soon so we can hear her sweet voice.

Love you guys!
