Laney's Stomping Ground

I was giving Laney a bath the other night when my mom was in town visiting. Laney, of course, was having the time of her life splashing around, giggling, playing with her alphabet letters and chewing on the shampoo bottle. Life couldn't be better for her. She LOVES her baths. Here recently, Hugh and I are noticing that she's a bit more gassy during bath time. She'll stand up and toot away, just like her Daddy. (Whoa, am I thinking outloud again?) Of course, Hugh and I think it's hilarious, but she has no clue that she's even doing it. That particular night, Laney was letting them fly. I was giggling away as I knelt by the tub. I try to keep Laney seated in the tub for saftey reasons, but let me tell you, it's so hard to keep that girl on her bottom. (Nearly impossible actually.) So, sometimes I'll let her stand up as long as I'm ready to catch her any second. While she was standing up that night in the tub, I noticed that she started to stomp in the water, trying to step on her toys and make splashes. I had never seen her stomp like that, but she's always doing something new every few days, so I thought it was fun seeing her do something new. I then noticed something strange in the water. Much to my surprise, Laney was trying to step on a terdling that I had NO IDEA she had dropped in the water. During one of her tooting sessions, she must have let out something else along with it. I couldn't believe my eyes! I always hear of kids pooping during bathtime, but Laney has never done it. One was already starting to flake apart(TMI, I know), and Laney kept trying to squish the other one by stepping on it. I had her with one arm to try to prevent her from essentially turning her bath water brown and started yelling for my mom to come quickly. I bet I scared my mom because I was yelling with urgency. I didn't know what to do. I didn't want to put her poop-feet on the bath rug, but I had to get her out so she wouldn't sit in the poopy water or put her fingers in her mouth or grab a toy from the water and put THAT in her mouth. once my mom popped her head in the bathroom and found out what Laney had done, she had a few chuckles and held Laney in a towel until I could gather all the toys in a bag, throw a few terdlings in the toilet, drain the water, scrub/disinfect the tub, and then run fresh/clean water so I could rebathe her. It was a pretty funny night, and I couldn't wait to tell Hugh that night when he got home. Laney definitely has established her "Stomping Ground" now. :) Have any of you new moms out there had a similar experience? How about you veteran parents?

Oh, how gross! We have had the same "poop in the tub" experience three times with Samuel. He will be playing away and then all of a sudden he gets "the look" on his face and before I can do anything he has pooped in the tub. Let me tell you, there is nothing else to do but exactly what you did: just start yelling for someone to come help and then clean like mad!

Obviously I've never had such experiences. But that one made me laugh like crazy! I'm sure I'll pay for it one day.

Hahaha... I bet Hugh hates to miss those moments... or then again, maybe he doesn't mind!

Thankfully your mom was there; I can just imagine you chasing a wet, poopy Laney around the house while trying to clean the bathtub.

Love you three - Happy Valentines Day!

Chloe also LOVES her baths and it seems to have a calming, relaxing effect on her because I have been in that situation several, several times. Oh the joys of being a mommy! :) Hope ya'll are doing good!

Too funny! The best is her trying to step on it!!!

Allana doesn't poop in the tub, but I've seen her get very still a few times, and I bet she is pee-peeing in there. Hmmmm....what to do?

And THAT's why I don't let Maggie drink her bathwater! (Why do they always want to do that?)
