The Transformation

Last Friday night we went to an 80's Birthday party (given by Todd & Carolina).

So, my question is this: How can someone go from look'n so hot and fine as in this picture below to......

Are you ready for this?

No, really. You need to sit down.

........

Hugh won the award for best dressed.

......

Can you guess how?

LOL! I can hear you laughing all the way over here in N.C.! Hahahahah! Isn't this picture the BEST thing you've ever seen! He truly could have stepped out of the 80's! Isn't this just soooo GROSS?! I was laughing all night. And I HAVE to mention that I found him a "Member's Only" jacket to wear as well. I don't have a picture of that, but it was SWWWEEEE-EEEETTT!

Okay, enough roasting Hugh. Hugh definitely won the prize (Karate Kid DVD), but all of us there looked great and we were ALL manifestations of the 80's. Want to see what I looked like?

.....

I was sport'n an 80's prom dress. If it sparkled, it was totally 80's for sure. First, I'll show you my shoes that I scored at the local donation center. I was so proud of this purchase. The bows were "rock'n the cazbah." (What the heck is a cazbah anyways?)

Side ponytails rock! I actually managed to get ALL of my short hair up in the side ponytail. The picture doesn't do justice. Take a look at that bow at the bottom of my dress! If there was a bow, it was definitely 80's worthy. My dress looked more 80's before I put the black tank top on. It was strapless and had a heart-shape in front (totally 80's), but it was too low to wear out.

Here's our prom picture. Hugh kept sending Nicole, a mutual friend, back and forth across the room to give me a message that he liked me. We eventually danced together. Here's our prom pose.

The latin beauty in the middle is Carolina. It was her birthday and her and Todd threw the party. What a brilliant idea! I'm a big fan of costume parties. I was actually one of the oldest here. Some of these girls were BORN in the early-middle 80's! Sheesh!

There was also 80's karaoke. Surprisingly, Hugh got up there and sang his heart out! I had a terribly stuffy nose and sounded like a major horn just making small talk during the party. He had to drag me up there to do a duet, but I really didn't sing. He totally out sang me.

I'm not much of a spotlight kinda girl, unless I'm in front of really, REALLY close friends. I'm really a shy person AT FIRST. My roommates can testify that the shy-part DOES INDEED wear off pretty quickly. Hee-hee!

One more picture of the King of the 80's!

He had his pants pegged when we left the house, showing off his high slouched socks. He un-pegged them b/c he said they were so tight they were hurting him. Ha!

Here is the sad part.....He looks just like most of the men in East Asia! So sad....

He could either be a Foreign University Student in EA, or a "Good Worker" or heck...both.

That is why I am still single!

LOLOL
Great stuff

OH MY WORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HaHaHa HaHaHa HAHAHA It looks like you had a great time together. Hugh...that is amazing. The hair really does the trick! We had a Christmas party too. Ours was much older. We had a live band rocking with hits from THE BEATLES! I hardly knew any of the songs. However, my 45 year old
man knew every lyric. How sad!

Arrg!! I can never see all of the pictures on your blog, no matter how many times I refresh or come back in. I'll keep trying. The 80's party seemed like fun!

Ha! That's so fun! I love both of your costumes. We need to have an 80's costume down here.

That is some kind of crazy. You know what's also crazy . . . I think I stayed in the room in that hotel that Hugh is sitting in front of.

Hey! I found you on Kimberly's blog. You are so right; his outfit (and yours) were perfect! I think the style carried over to the early 90's too because I wore a heart shaped front black sequin dress to my 10th grade Homecoming and my date had on a white turtleneck and a sweater that looked almost exactly like Hugh's! So great! -Amy Ivester Allen

Ha. He's really working that mustache. I hear it's really hot overseas. Maybe he could make it a comeback here in the states.

personally, i don't see what's so wrong or icky with that look - it kind of takes me back to our hiking days (when my personal favorite look for you was the bounty beard combined with the blown-out whitefro. now inspired, i'm going to to try and talk the wife in to a mustache (mine, not hers) Doug, you did do some amazing work with the 80's look - the only reason i didn't look exactly like that is b/c i couldn't grow facial hair until i was 29 years old.

Absolutely not! Hugh, don't you come near jojo with that mustache! hahaha. My FAVORITE is the part in your hair. Fantastically authentic. But don't worry, Hugh, you could never be ugly. hahaha.
