Listen closely as you'll hear Laney say "da-da" at the beginning of the clip. To Hugh's excitement, she started saying "da-da" last week. He was SO HAPPY to hear her say his name.
Papa Santiago is still in Iraq and doing well. We anticipate his return in October. He'll be home for 2 weeks. He can't wait to hold Laney and spend some quality time with her. I'm trying to get Laney used to his face, so I am showing her his picture a lot.
He also caught some raw footage of me being...well, me. I hope you enjoy the entertainment. Hee-hee!
Demolition Update:
Out came the bushes and now the work can begin. Here's Hugh laying down the pebbles and preparing the way for some Quikrete.

This stack is only half of what we need. Yikes!

The concrete has been laid, and now it's drying. I am a lover of progress. I love seeing progress. I have yet to take a picture. Now Hugh is studying up as to how to build these stairs and attach them to the house. How fun!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's my little Dixie after church yesterday. I love this toy that I got at a garage sale last Fall when I was prego with Lanes. It's a Leap Frog toy, and I bought it for $5.00. It's worth every penny. In fact, it'd be worth every penny full price. It has an infant stage where it leans forward while they are laying down and a toddler stage where it's upright as they sit in front of it or stand. Laney loves to stand in front of it and spin the little globe. I love it because it has songs and teaches words in different languages. Those little songs get stuck in my head most of the time, and I'm not even trying to listen to it, so I know Laney has to be learning a great deal from them.

Laney loves to look in that mirror that's above her changing table. Speaking of changing tables and changing diapers,...changing Laney's diaper is A TASK and a HALF. I always have to have some kind of toy to distract her and it's usually a different toy after about two tries, b/c she gets bored. There's only so much room on that changing table for movement. It's a bit scary how much she wants to flip over and go go go! Plus, you have to keep those kicking feet out of any poo-poo diapers as you're cleaning her up, but trying to keep the poo off of the changing pad cover at the same time. So, looking in the mirror after getting that diaper on is a great way to get her clothes on sometimes.

cute feet laney! and nice work, holls, on providing the wonderful entertainment! :o)
My favorite part of the video is hearing Hugh trying not to laugh behind the camera!
Love the cricket feet and Hollie doing an impersonation of a clippity-clop pony. Gideon used to clap his feet together, and never ceased to amuse me.
Great photos and good luck with the house project!
You're a brave lady to post you being just a normal "Mommy," b/c it is so funny! Love it!
I'm so excited to see the fianl porch!
Did yall move the nursery around?
Steph Lyon
hollie,
i love your vids. took me back a few years. thanks for posting that. made my stinkin day. we need some of your inspiration for home improvement projects. i'd love to do some stuff ourselves, esp a patio out back. any tips? i'll send you some pics and see what you envision!!!
Hollie!!!! That video cracks me up b/c YOU KNOW what that makes me think of...a little time at Tavern Oaks when we were bored and set up the camera and started dancing. LOL!! Laney has your expressions, too cute. Ethan has that leap frog toy and he STILL plays with his...at almost two! Love the house project. You know we're all about some projects over here. I totally see what you are wanting to do on the porch, love it!! Can't wait to see the finished project.
Hey, you're looking mighty tan these days!! Is all that from the beach?
hollie..that porch is going to look good! I hope to get up there to see the finished project!
Steph,
Yes, we moved in a twin bed into the nursery.
Kimberly, Yeah, I got some sun at the beach and it's still hanging on. I need to sit outside at least 10 minutes a day to keep my tan for Richie's wedding in Oct, b/c we FO SHO ain't goin to no beach anytime soon. (Grammar buffs, sorry for the pain I just caused you.)
Hey Hollie! It is so fun to see all your pictures and keep up with you on your blog. I can't wait to see the final product on the porch project. Lydia is the same way with changing her diaper. I just line up the toys in the hopes that one will keep her interest long enough for me to change her. We have her name in block letters hanging above her changing table and she LOVES to stand up and try to take them down. Only problem is daddy lets her do this so when I go to change her she tries to wiggle and stand up! Well, I loved you comment on email that comments are your love language. I think they're mine too!! Keep the pics comeing! Love, K
