Today is Columbus day, ...AND... it's also the day of Daisy's heartworm treatment. I just dropped her off at the Vet's office. I have been dreading this day since last week. I hope that she does well, and that though she will be very exhausted, sore, and not feeling good, I hope that her recovery is quick. More than anything we would like this procedure to give her at least 10 more years with us. We hope that she's the very dog that protects our children and that our children grow up with. She will spend the night there tonight, and I will pick her up tomorrow. For six weeks she will need to avoid any type of exercise that will increase her heart rate. Being a lively, little one-and-a-half year old, this will be a challenge once she gets her energy back.
Again, for those of you who have pets, PLEASE put your dog on heartworm preventatives.

Just as Christopher Columbus conquered the New World, may "the treatment" conquer the worms. If you guys lived a little closer you could bring Daisy over to the House of Zog to hang out with my wife, since they are both on bed rest for the next 6 weeks.
we have our doggy on heart worm pills monthly - what a blessing! I know it's hard to see your "baby" go through pain.
