(Whheeewwww...deep sigh of relief)...Daisy is laying down beside me as I type this. I am so relieved that she is back with us, under our care. She is still uncomfortable and is shaking a bit from the deep, muscular pain caused by the Immiticide(a form of arsenic to kill the worms). But I just gave her some pain medicine. She's going to get the best of the best treatment as far as we are concerned. For goodness sake, I just went out and bought her canned Filet Mignon dog food! Folks, meal time just doesn't get better than that for us, much less for pups. We will be pampering that little girl for weeks to come.
To Hugh's surprise(b/c I forgot to tell him), she has a shaved square on her lumbar, and it's a bit swollen right now from the injections. Hugh and I have been commenting on the fact that she has to sport that thing around for a while. Poor thing...but style's not an issue for the time being though. Hugh thought that they could have at least protected her self-esteem a little bit by shaving a normal shape square, instead of a weird shape. (I would put a picture of it on here, but I seemed to have misplaced the cam. oops!) Overall, we are very pleased with Dr. Jones and her good work. Her compassion for animals won me over, and that's how she won amongst all the other vets in the area. The pain is almost overwith for Daisy, but the most challenging part awaits us...trying to keep this little girl calm for 6 weeks. Mercy alive, is it possible? This has been a very emotional time for me(Hollie), and possibly I think Daisy took the procedure much better than I did. Thanks for your concern and compassion through all of this.
