Our Saturday

Today started out with a trip to Home Depot to be a part of their free kids workshop. I was so impressed with everything from the free apron and pin they got (the pin has a picture of the project they will make that month), the free supplies for the project and the instructions to make it.

Look at those two little orange cuties! Don't just want to pinch their cheeks?!

What I didn't realize was that the parent is the instructor, not the Home Depot worker. I guess in my mind I envisioned a long table with little kids building a project and a Home Depot worker or two helping and instructing them. But it was really fun that I got to teach them how to build and create!

Look at that proud smile! She was so proud of herself. They made a little wooden box for the wooden coasters that were given in the kit. There was an adhesive cork to go on top, but we are waiting to put on our cork until after we paint ours. Laney has declared that her coasters will be pink!

Mattie was holding her finished project as well, but you can't see it here.

Then I tended to the flowers my Mom so graciously bought me last weekend! I can't tell you how long I've wanted beautiful flowers at my entrance to my house, but we just didn't have it in the budget. I LOVE these flowers and plants! Take a look at what she bought me!

Oh, thank you so much Mom for blessing me this way. It's the little things that I just love so much and you were so thoughtful to buy them for our front porch. I also learned a lot from you when we planted these beauties in the pots. I love coming to my front door and seeing such a beautiful welcome!
Thank you!

Then later on that afternoon, Laney played with her friends next door in their sprinkler system. They rode their bikes down their driveway while riding through the sprinkler. Oh, what I'd give to be a carefree little girl again! Summer bliss!

Hugh worked around the house today as well. He painted our mailbox post, mowed the grass,...

and borrowed an augur from a friend to "augur" our yard.

I found one of my hanging plants from last year (that had been sitting on the side of our house all this time) and my plants had come back! So I bought a new coconut liner  and some soil for my basket. I can't wait to see them bloom!

(FYI: I have on shorts underneath this squort.)

Mattie napped for about three hours while Laney played hard outside. Mattie would have loved playing in the sprinkler though. She has a head cold, so she had some much needed rest in store for her.

I finished up painting a dresser while Hugh was weeding and spreading straw out back.

After dinner, we hit the park with the girls and Daisy for about thirty minutes.
It was a super-fun July Saturday!
