Laney & Mattie

Not a day goes by that Laney isn't dressed up in one of her princess dresses. Not a day, and I love that she adores dressing up like a princess. Usually, there are necklaces, sunglasses, high heels, and bracelets as her accessories, all the while begging me to paint her fingernails. I'm soaking up every bit of "I want to be a princess" stage that I can, for I know it's so fleeting. Oh, I don't want her to grow up! This big girl is as sweet as pie and melts my heart to pieces. Her imagination baffles us. Her animation is hilarious. And her heart is so merciful.  Here, while Laney was building a tall tower in her princess dress,....

Mattie was....

...busy with reading books. It's amazing how much different reading is with my second child than with my first. I have to be very, very intentional about reading to Mattie, whereas, with Laney I focused all of my attention on her all the time. I try to read to Mattie before naps and bedtime, if I can remember. Sometimes, she is so spent, the best thing for her is lights out and cuddle time with Mommy.

Here's my favorite of Mattie that day:

Those sweet, little chubby legs folded over into a froggy sit, entertaining herself. Truly, can this picture get any cuter? Oh! I can't tell enough how precious this little one year old bundle is.

We love you Laney and Mattie!

Oh, I SO know what you mean about reading with the second one! I really have a hard time with it, because I want Tucker to love books like Lana does, but I just don't focus on it with him like I did with her. : (
