Here’s a recap of our first week in our house:
One of the most wonderful aspects about where we live is that we live in a neighborhood with sidewalks! I absolutely LOVE that I don’t have to drive anywhere to go on a walk. Here are the girls in their double stroller on our first family walk. Now, after having walked the neighborhood a few times, Laney either walks or rides her little tricycle. I can’t wait for her to get a big girl bike with training wheels.

This picture makes me laugh, and I was even snickering while taking this picture. We are now bag-carrying walkers when Daisy is with us. On our first walk, we realized that we should have grabbed a trash bag to pick up the little treasure Daisy was going to leave in someone’s yard. And she did leave a treasure alright. A man doing yard work started starring us down while Daze was doing her business. We were a bit fidgety and said really loudly, “Oh, when we get home, we’ll grab a bag and come back to pick this up.” LOL. The man said, “Hey, you need a bag?” And we took him up on the offer. Right there, I thought about the funniest ways the Lord allows you to meet people. Not many words were exchanged, since he wasn’t interested in small talk, but we now know his name and say hey to him when we are out walking.
Laney, at age 3.5, rarely naps these days. It’s a sad, sad realization that those daily naps are on the downhill. Laney still has room-time though where she still is asked to stay in her bed and rest. However, when I go in her room to check on her, there are books everywhere and dollies that she’s playing with, so we are slowly transitioning to just having some calm and quiet downtime. During our three-month transition time, Laney rarely napped. Once we got to our new house, here’s what I saw when I went in to check on her:
Just passed out cold.

What a sight! I think she napped three times that first week being in our new home. I’m not sure what caused her to nap again. Her familiar furniture? Familiar blankets? Her quilts for her bunk beds? Stuffed animals to sleep with? Whatever the cause, I was all about it.
Sarah Rogers, whose husband Matt is the lead pastor at Renewal, came over one day and helped me unpack some stuff. I couldn’t believe it, because she has a two- month old baby named Hudson and two other children, Corrie and Avery, to care for as well. Here she is at our house working? Way impressed with this gal. I definitely didn’t expect her to do a thing. But she really was all about helping us get settled. Here we are looking like we know what we’re doing, but we don’t. We were laughing, because we felt like we had two left hands while hammering felt pads into the legs of the chairs, smashing our thumbs all the while.
Doesn’t Sarah have the prettiest smile? Her face just lights up when she smiles, which is all the time. So excited to partner with this family for the long haul.
Laney went out back, picked some little dandelions, and gave them to me. She said, “Here ya go Mama." She told me to put them in some water, so I did. That little sweetie pie! And I just love this little single flower vase. It holds just enough flowers to brighten a room and put a smile on my face.

Oh, I LOVE that you have sidewalks! I dream of one day living in a neighborhood where I can just walk right out my door and take a stroll.
And that nappin' Laney - her legs look so big girl! Those aren't little baby girl legs anymore.
So happy that you are settling in well...you are missed here in Wake Forest, for sure, but we are celebrating this new part of your life with you!
I love the update! We miss you guys so but are glad to see that you're getting adjusted and have such great friends where you are! And I agree with Rachael, Laney's legs do look like a big girl's in that sleeping picture.
