Mattie's Milestones

Playtime with Laney (3) and Mattie (5.5 months):

This picture was taken a few weeks ago when she was sick with a head cold.

Talk about cracking up-- Laney is hilarious. That's all there is to it.


At 5.5 months Mattie cut her first tooth while traveling beginning of Feb to South Carolina. I didn't see it coming at all. Although, looking back, the intense, explosive diarrhea was a dead giveaway. I cannot tell you how hard it is to travel with a baby who has diarrhea. Mercy! Most of the time I had a bathtub nearby where I could just dip her in the clean water to wash it off of her back and hair, but a few times we were on the road or in the van driving around town. I believe I used at least twenty wipes each time. It was something to behold. Then, a few days later after arriving home, Mattie cut her second tooth, right beside the first one on the bottom.

Then a few days after that, Mattie started sitting up! She wasn't even six months yet! Here's a picture of her very first time sitting up without help. She's leaning a little forward, but was up all on her own strength!
This took me off guard, because I have only spent limited time on the ground with her. Having a three year old around prevented Mattie's ample play time on the floor.

This picture melts me to pieces. Look at these precious eyes filled with so much excitement and wonder.

Bathtime: We are no longer using the little sling to bathe Mattie now that she's sitting up. We have this little seat that suctions to the bathtub for her to sit in. I had it with Laney and even then I got it used, so I know there has to be a better, updated one out, but this will suffice. She won't be in it long.
