I saw this idea of bathtime puppets in a magazine, and I knew I'd be making these for Laney! They used rubber cleaning gloves and colored sharpies (instead of beads and hair.) However, I only had black sharpies in the house at the time, so I combed the craft closet for items that were waterproof and could work. This was such an off-the-cuff project for us and I didn't plan to do this particular craft this morning, but why not? We'll wing it, I thought. I found this bag of tiny beads I used one time to sew onto a felt donut I made for one of Laney's friends. I hot glued the beads on, as well as a few snippets of Laney's doll's tattered and worn out hair. I haven't tried them in the bath yet, so the beads will more than likely not stay on there forver, but this is a trial run. Laney looooves these puppets like crazy.

Bathtime Puppets
If you're like me, you're disappointed in the bath toys that are available because #1 they are so expensive and #2 they end up molding or getting water stuck inside them.

Okay, I admit,...the Ariel puppet is a little freaky looking. LOL. But hey, I just used what I had on hand. I will probably pick up some of those cute, little colored sharpies in the near future. They will have a smaller, more fine tip as well for drawing. So far we have a cat, a pig, a penguin, Ariel, and a dog. :)

What a cute idea!
We have resorted to just playing with cups and plastic easter eggs in the bath. This would be a fun change.
Give us an update when you see how well they hold up in the bath.
The penguin is my favorite! :)
I have a drawer FULL of colored sharpies that you are more than welcome to use, so you don't have to buy them!
What a great idea, Hollie! I might have to "borrow" it for our two. They love puppets and you are so right about bathtime toys!
LOVE the penguin! what a great idea!
