Her Heart is Perfect

Praise the Lord!!!! Mattie Rebecca has a perfect heart. There are no defects, no structural problems. I was there while the cardiologist did the ultrasound. There is nothing that sounds sweeter than, "there are no problems." All signs are pointing to Mattie having a serious case of pneumonia. The oxygen and meds should give her a turnaround in 24 to 48 hours. They put her on a ventilator so that she can relax and not have to work so hard to maintain oxygen levels. Hollie just finished her first unit of blood, and so far, the transfusion has made her feel tons better. She's doing the second unit now. Soon, I will wheel Hollie over to the NICU so she can see Mattie. She's going crazy not getting to see her. Thank you all so much for praying.

I just sent a message to your email, but wasn't sure which one you would check. Pneumonia is pretty common...not as common as fluid in the lungs but we see it a lot in our NICU. She'll be much more comfortable on the ventilator. It looks horrible but it'll give her lungs a rest and help her oxygenate and ventilate better. And they'll give her pain medicine to keep her comfortable. She'll probably be on antibiotics 7-10 days...so I just wanted to prepare you she may be there 2 weeks. She'll probably be on the ventilator a couple of days then they'll wean her to a different device maybe down to a nasal cannula which gives oxygen and a little flow. Hollie will be able to nurse then or give her a bottle. She may not eat great at first. A lot of babies have trouble eating after they've had respiratory distress. We're praying for you guys! Try and get some rest!

Praise God!! We continue to pray here as having pneumonia isn't the best way to start off your life! I'm hopeful that Hollie gets to see her soon. And I can't wait to see some pics!!

BTW, is Hollie able to bfeed at this point? Don't know if I need to add this to my prayers.

Love to you all!!! XOXO.

Oh, Hollie. I had no idea till I saw something on Facebook.
I am so grateful that her heart is OK. We'll be up at UNC on Thursday for Shepherd's procedure. I hope your not still there, but if you are, we will be sure to see you guys.
I am praying. My heart knows your fears.
I was reminded today of Psalm 131 and Isaiah 31:1,5. These were the verses God gave me before my last doctors appointment before Shepherd was born. I had no idea how much I would need them at the time.

131:1 O Lord, my heart is not lifted up;
my eyes are not raised too high;
I do not occupy myself with things
too great and too marvelous for me.
2 But I have calmed and quieted my soul,
like a weaned child with its mother;
like a weaned child is my soul within me.

3 O Israel, hope in the Lord
from this time forth and forevermore.

AND

31:1 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help
and rely on horses,
who trust in chariots because they are many
and in horsemen because they are very strong,
but do not look to the Holy One of Israel
or consult the Lord!

Isaiah 31:5
5 Like birds hovering, so the Lord of hosts
will protect Jerusalem;
he will protect and deliver it;
he will spare and rescue it.”

I WAS NEEDING TO REMEMBER THESE IN THE FACE OF MY FEARS ABOUT THIS COMING THURSDAY'S PROCEDURE. NOW I CAN PRAY THEM FOR YOU,TOO.
I know how hard it is to see her on the vent. But it's so wonderful to see them relax. Their was almost nothing harder for me to see than respiratory distress for Shep. That's why I am praying hard over this Thursday for him. I am grateful to know how to pray for you guys. We love you
Let me know if we can bring anything on Thursday.
