Today I am 37 weeks pregnant! Baby girl is now weighing around 6.5 lbs! I couldn't believe that last night when I read it, but it's true. If babies gain .5 lb a week, and if I have three weeks to go, that should be about right for a good, healthy newborn weight.
Last week I asked the midwife about birth weights. She told me that your second baby will be at least the weight of your first baby and then some. Laney weighed 7 lbs. 8 oz a week early, since my c-section took place five days before my c-section. But get this...last night, I got to thinking. Laney's initial due date was supposed to be December 16th. Halfway through the pregnancy, all of the doctors in the practice agreed to change Laney's due date to December 11th, due to her measuring so big. Then, they took her via c-section on December 6th. What if December 16th was the correct due date after all? That would mean that Laney would have been a whopper, and I would be destined for another whopper this time around. It's really hard to know how big this baby girl will be. We'll wait and see!
Many have been asking if I plan to schedule another c-section. No, I do not. I want to avoid that surgery like the plague, if I can. I will attempt to have a VBAC (vaginal birth after Cesarean). If something goes wrong, if I don't progress in labor, etc.. and I end up having a c-section, then so be it. But I'd like to try at least to have an un-medicated, all-natural delivery. And I'll admit it, I'm scared of those labor pains. But she has to come out, and I'm sure in three weeks, I'll be willing to endure pain to get her out.
As you can see, there's a yellow wall behind me. That's your sneak-peak at the nursery with pics that are to come!

Cute shirt.
Love yellow.
Can't wait for nursery pics!
Don't freak out about the birth weight - Benjamin (although a few days earlier than Keaton) was smaller...by a few ounces, lol ;-)
So excited for your VBAC and praying for you daily!!! You can SO do it! It's the most amazing thing. ever. :)
You look great Hollie!! Can't wait to see more of the nursery. Eeeeeeeee....only 3 more weeks!!! (if that long :)
Hey!!! I think that's great you're going for an un-medicated delivery. We're all about it!! I doubt you'll have a 9 or 10 pound baby...but hey, it could happen. I've never known the approx weight to be correct, always way on the high side...but you'll be fine either way!
I know how friends & strangers love to give pregnant women advice, so i'll refrain :) but just know we're praying for y'all and praying for an awesome delivery! take care! joni
Well the I didn't follow the midwife's birthweight rule... Luke was 7 lbs. 5 oz., and Kiryn was 6. lbs 10 oz.... a good bit smaller. Don't worry about it!

Hey Hollie. I was just checking out your blog and trying to do some catching up. I just wanted to say that I'm really hoping for a natural delivery for you. Your body was created for it! It is the greatest feeling to push that baby out. Some people tease us women wanting to go all naturale, but it truly is a huge accomplishment for a woman...to do what most people fear. Your VBAC is going to rock. Take a mantra with you to your birth like...MY BODY ROCKS! And say it over and over. I can't wait to hear about it, and see your new baby girl. BIG BIG LOVE to you and your family.
