Be Thou My Vision

Since we were/are huge Praise Baby fans when Laney was a bit younger, I have enjoyed singing those soft, comforting songs to Laney at bedtime. I would always sing them to her when she would have a hard time falling asleep while being out of town. They worked every time! When we were in the ER over Christmas, the nurse put this loud, scary mask on her face (nebulizer treatment) and an IV (that took FOREVER to get in by the way), so needless to say, Laney was in great distress. (Especially after being up all night long) I sang these songs in her ear to calm her down.

These past two weeks I've noticed Laney singing "Be Thou My Vision" on her own, singing the tune most of the time and hitting a word here or there. I don't even know all the words! Ha! I plan to get the lyrics online soon though, so I can teach her the correct words.

Last night while eating dinner, I asked her to sing Be Thou My Vision. Notice where I started to laugh/giggle and the camera started shaking. Hee-hee! When she's not sick, she can hit some of the lower and higher notes. I'm always thoroughly impressed.

It BLOWS MY MIND how well she can hold a tune!!! Hollie, I cannot wait to see this child on American Idol. It really is a neat gift she's got.

Hey Hollie, I have been "stalking" your blog (this one and POH) for a Looonnnnggg time now. I linked to it through my sister-in-law's blog (Shannon Bradley). Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoy your blog, and you have a BEAUTIFUL family!! I also wanted to say that that video of Laney singing was just precious!! I loved it! I thought to myself "I don't think I know that song", but believe it or not, once I heard her sing the tune I recognized it! Anyway, I just started a blog of my own, so chek it out if you want!

Oh my word! Parents always brag about their child prodigies, but you might actually have one. I am so so so very impressed.
