Laney update: overdue!
I haven't given a Laney update in forever!
Talking: She is really, really starting to talk now. She is starting to repeat everything I say. She attempts almost everything and does a really good job pronunciating words she's never even said before.
Singing: She is still singing so much and might I add, her pronunciation is now catching up to her ability to hold a tune. She can sing the whole ABC's with clarity of every letter, whereas before she would make up letter sounds, but sing the song to perfection tune-wise. She really can sing beautifully. I can't wait to see how this develops. Anytime she hears a song playing in the background, like while walking in the mall or hearing a commercial on t.v., she stops what she's doing and starts dancing. She loves music.
Dancing: Her dancing skills have taken on a whole new level as well. Before her second birthday (Dec 6), she would just bend her knees and bob up and down. It was precious. Right after she turned two, she started shaking her hips/hiney and really shaking it. I have no idea where she picked this up. Then, right before we left for our Christmas travels, she started moving her feet while dancing. She actually picks them up, moves them to the side and stomps them to the beat. It's unbelievable! I don't have a video of this yet, because I cannot find our battery chargers to our camera (which is very frustrating for someone who LOVES to take pictures/video of her little girl and family events.) I am going to enroll her in a Kindermusik class for Spring Semester and she is going to love it. The three sets of grandparents pitched in and bought that for Laney.
Growing-up: Everyone is commenting on how much Laney has grown up this past month or two. I can't see it as much as everyone else can in her appearance, but I can see her developments/mi
lestones taking off. Laney has been jumping off the ground for months now. She reached that milestone a long time ago, and I really couldn't believe it at the time. But I've always known she was my little, energetic girl, who loved to climb and take risks, so it makes sense that she would be a great jumper as well. Now, she can jump SO HIGH with both feet to where she makes a huge stomp noise when she lands. I think I might put her in a Baby-Stomping Class. Ha! How funny!Toddler Bed: Last Saturday we moved Laney to her big-girl toddler bed. I was dreading the transition because I knew that this could potentionally mean that I wouldn't be able to rest up during her naps in this first trimester, but she started to prop her leg up on the railing and was climbing like a money on the furniture, so we thought it best to move her. I cannot brag on her enough! She transitioned like a CHAMP! She napped in her big girl bed the first day for three hours, which is what she normally sleeps when in her crib! The first night she fell out of her crib and was crying while sitting up so confused in the middle of the night. And last night she fell out and somehow had wedged her head just barely under the toddler bed that she couldn't get her head out by herself. Needless to say, she was pretty scared. But once I got to her, I quickly picked her up, calmed her down and she fell right back to sleep in her bed. :) I'm soooo proud of her! Next is potty-training (again). I planned on doing this right after Christmas, but since I am now pregnant and EXHAUSTED, I think I'm going to try again in March when I'm a little more rested up and when Hugh can help me. I'm ready for her to be trained now though!
Pregnancy Update: 8 weeks today (Thursday)
I'm in the thick of pregnancy sickness. On most mornings, I feel pretty good. But usually around lunchtime, I start getting "the feeling," the thirst, and the fatigue. After I lay Laney down, I can hardly keep my eyes open. I try my best to close my eyes if I can while Laney sleeps. On some days, my schedule doesn't allow me to do so though. I don't ever actually "get sick" like most pregnant women. I do have to keep something on my stomach at all times. I'm craving potatos with sour cream and tacos with sour cream like nobody's business. I'm also eating lots of oranges and grapefruits. I need to start eating more bananas, because my legs are starting to cramp up when I get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, which is at least once, but mostly two times a night. I want to start walking, but mercy, it's soooo stink'n cold. I'd give anything for a treadmill. By 7:30 I'm totally and completely exhausted. I don't usually go to bed then, because I want to see a show or something on tv, but even then, I'm hardly even watching tv.
Sorry, no pictures for this post. I hope I find my chargers soon. I feel so handicapped without my camera.
