Hugh insisted on putting it on her again the next morning while she was eating breakfast. Hilarious. At least it kept her from putting her greasy fingers in her freshly washed, fluffy hair.
Laney is so fun at this age of two. She picks up EVERYTHING. I laugh at her constantly. She is so responsive. Her favorite thing to do throughout the day is STILL dragging a chair from our kitchen table and moving it over to the counter-top where I'm cooking. She says, "I cook! I cook!" I love it! When she sees me making bread she says, "Beh-ad! Dough!"
Another thing she spends a lot of time doing is playing with the Nativity Set my mom gave her for her birthday. She LOVES Baby Jesus. Loves Him. She'll request the Baby Jesus from our grown up Navity set and it's made of procelin. I let her play with it on the carpet. He has a little bed and she loooves to kiss him and put him in His bed. If she drops Him, Hugh and I will hear her say, "Uh-oh Jesus!" We just look at each other and giggle. It's sooo incredibly adorable. Hugh pulled her aside last night, put her in his lap and said, "Now Laney, I know you love Baby Jesus, but I want you to know that Jesus grew up to be a grown-up, a big person. He's no longer a baby..." etc.. He's afraid she'll have a hard time letting go of the "baby" image of Jesus as she grows up. I'm sure as she gets older, she'll understand more. In her nativity set, she knows which one is Mary, Joe, the shepherd, the kings, Jesus...etc.. it's so cute.
Last week we went to our Small Group's Christmas Party. It was so much fun! Here's Laney and our friend Page. Page is pregnant and I thought it would be fun/interesting to see how Laney would react when I told her Page had a baby in her belly. Laney got REALLY serious and still. Her eyes were bugg'n for sure, as she tried to comprehend. She kept looking at Page's belly with such a serious look. Then she tried to pull up Page's shirt to look underneath it, still with this "stunned" look on her face. You can see it a little bit in the picture. It was so funny. Then she got weirded out, and I guess felt like she was sitting on baby when she was sitting in Page's lap, so she started arching her back and holding out her arms for me to pick her up. Just the other day, while playing with Baby Jesus, she lifted her shirt, pointed to her belly and said "baby." She really remembers things that she learns. Hugh and I couldn't believe that she did that.
Here's Lauren. I'm not sure if any of you know, but she is 13.5 weeks pregnant and was completely WIPED out every night around 6:00 or 6:30 when they were here. Poor thing was exhausted! That little baby in her belly is just-a growing! I'm so excited for them!

A doo-rag for mealtimes - brilliant! I am constantly trying to keep little greasy hands from messing up their hair.
