19.5 months down!

Ohhh.....I can't believe we're two weeks away from being 20 months! (Deep sigh.) I want so badly for her to continue to advance and grow, for that is one of the greatest blessings from the Lord to a parent, but at the same time, my heart is sad to see these days of infancy pass by us so quickly. I try to soak up every moment. Here are some pictures in the driveway in her dress from Great Aunt Joan, my mom's sister. I love this dress!!

Mmm! There's nothing like a nice, delicious sponge water-ball on which to snack.

When I squat down to take a picture of Laney, she always comes running up to me cracking up and tries to take the camera. I, of course, am just trying to balance so perfectly so as to have a crystal clear picture and focus. I can't help but start laughing too when this happens.

Lastly, I've been thinking about adding a "Health Tip" in every post. I've always been very interested in health. I was a wellness major before I changed to Spanish. (I did minor in wellness though.) I think it would be a great way to pass on the great things I'm learning from books I've been reading, as well as a great way to help me remember all the facts! Repetition, repetition, repetition! So, my first tid-bit is below.

Are you eating saturated fats daily? Step out of your American, fat-free lifestyle before you harm body even more. Good, saturated fats (whole milk, eggs, raw milk cheeses, steak, coconut oil, avocados, etc) are SO very important to consume. First, let me start with the cells of your body and why you NEED the right kinds of fats. (Excerpt from Eat Fat Lose Fat by Mary Enig).

Fats in the Cells: "Saturated fats maintain cellular integrity everywhere in the body. Why? Because EVERY cell membrane is ideally made up of about 50 percent saturated fat. When we eat too much polyunsaturated oil and not enough saturated fat (or carbohydrates that the body turns into saturated fat), our cells don't function correctly. Those cell membrane fatty acids need to be saturated for the cell to have necessary "stiffness" or integrity and to work properly. When the cell walls do not contain enough saturated fats, they actually become "floppy" and cannot work properly. "

Fats in Your Bones: "A study published in the 1996 American Oil Chemist Society Proceedings found that for calcium to be effectively incorporated into the skeletal structure, at least 50 percenyt of dietary fats should be saturated. Why has osteoporosis become such a problem these days???? One reason is the lack of fats like coconut oil and butter in our diets." (REAL butter, not margarine.)

Have you had your fat today? Next to be addressed are: Fats and Your Liver, Fats and Your Heart

Ha! So sweet. She is looking so grown up these days. And she has chameleon hair - it's looking more blonde now. Love it.
