To quote Laney, "Wow! Wow! Wow!" If any one of you watched the American Idol Finale last night, David Cook, the other David, won last night, and I am THRILLED beyond belief that he won!! But get this, we had small group last night, so we DVRed American Idol. Once we got home, I bathed Laney, put her down to bed, loaded the dishwasher, showered, fed Daisy, and went through my whole bedtime routine of brushing my teething, taking my contacts out, etc... so that I could hit the sack immediately after watching the Finale. It was late, and I was pooped, but there was no way I could wait until Thursday to watch the show. Right at the moment of revelation where the winner was announced, Ryan Seacrest said, "And the winner of Season 2008 is.....DAVID...," and suddenly our tv screen fell blank. Hugh and I were sitting there, eyes popped out and wondering what the heckers just happened. We looked at each other and I started to scream "NO WAY!" in disbelief as I jumped up off the couch, and Hugh had ping-pong eyes, had his hand over his mouth and pretty much was bracing himself, since he knew this was my all-time fav-of-all-fav shows. The show had gone past the allotted time of 10:00 and since we DVR-ed it, it cut off the show at the worst moment POSSIBLE. "And the winner of Season 2008 is.....DAVID.....". AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Both contestants' names were David. I was fit to be tied! So we ran into the office to pull up youtube and the winner, for surely you tube will have something. NOPE. NOTHING. NADA. ERGH!!! They had every other American Idol video clip but the most important. I guess since the time-change between the East and West Coast, they couldn't announce who the winner was on americanidol.com. But finally we found out who won, and we gasped and were elated that David Cook won!!! I turned to Hugh and said with all my might, "Hugh, you've just GOT to find a way for me to see the finale. You've just GOT to. Please!!!" Desperation is a fitting word to describe that moment. I went to bed last night without having seen the clip. What a disappointment. However, this morning I was happy to watch his winning-song performance. I could see remnants of some tears pooling at the bottom of his eye, so I do know that there were tears involved. (LOL! I'm such a girl! I want emotion! I want shock and excitement!) I wanted to see his face when he heard he had won. I wanted to live in the moment. I wanted to see the tears roll and get so excited at the fact that the guy that I was rooting for won!! I wanted jump up off the couch and do my happy jig in celebration of him winning. (This is a common occurrence in our home. I'm dancing, and Hugh is laughing at me.) So, I have still yet to see his reaction. I guess it'll show up on you tube sometime today. Did anyone else watch the finale??? Who did you want to win?
Oh wait...I found a clip that I think has the revealing on there! Off to watch it!

Hollie you are hilarious!!! Bret and I also rushed home to watch the finale. We LOVE American Idol!! I thought they were both incredibly talanted and David Archuletta has such a pure, beautiful voice but...I would definately buy a David Cook album before an Archuletta one. That's so crazy that it cut right off at "the winner is David...." I would have just keeled over. What a funny story :)
You are so funny. I'm imagining you in your bathrobe, leaping off the couch, and Hugh with his hand over his mouth - and I'm just laughing out loud. I have never watched a single full episode of AI, but I'm glad you enjoy it so much. And I'm glad your guy won.
Consequently, I used to have a really close friend named David Cook, but I KNOW he wouldn't be singing on American Idol. haha.
Hollie, I too wanted Cook to win. I was absoutely shocked that he did. We have DVR. You know you can set it to record a few minutes after the actual show should be over. That way you don't miss anything.
Hollie, it's Emily Lourcey, Rob's wife, Rachael's friend, we went out to eat with you guys to Remington Grill. Anyway, Rob and I went to Pigeon Forge for our anniversary this week and had to wait until today, Friday to watch the finale! The same exact thing happened to us with our DVR! Thankfully YouTube had already been updated and I was also super stoked that David Cook won. YAY!
