There is a chance that UGA can play for the National Championship this year. Yeah, you read that right. We're not out of the picture technically. I never would have thought it after losing to South Carolina and after UT broke their foot off in our hindparts. First and most important, Tennessee must lose to Kentucky, and we have to beat Tech on Sat. Here's the current BCS standings:
- LSU
- Kansas
- West Virginia
- Missouri
- Ohio State
- Arizona State
- Georgia
- Virginia Tech
- Oregon
- Oklahoma
As mentioned earlier, UGA must win over Tech. Outside of that there are 5 teams that must lose for UGA to be in position to play for the championship. None of these are too crazy, but things do get a bit wild when you MUST have all these. Here goes:
- USC over Arizona St DONE ----USC monkey-stomped ASU Thursday night
- Kentucky over Tennesse
- Missouri over Kansas
- Oklahoma over Missouri in Big 12 Championship
- UConn over West Virginia

Stafford celebrates the completion of Phase One for Bulldog domination.
If Kentucky takes down UT, UGA will go to SEC championship to utterly dominate the lowly tigers of LSU. If these remaining 4 games go according to script, the Georgia Bulldogs would play Ohio State for the title. I would FREAK OUT. Seriously, these games are not really much of a stretch. I admit that I'm asking a lot for all of these to happen, but what if...

The Finns are definitely wishing for the same amazing feats to happen. Go DAWGS!!!
it's unbelieeeeevable!!
It'll be interesting to see what the LSU loss does to us. Go DAWGS!!! Go CATS!!! Go Huskies!!! Win one Mizzou and then lose one too!
kbaggett
Yeah, sorry about that one.
So, I'm reading over your master plan and have to say that you could still play for the nat champ. even though TN won. You just need Mizzou and WVU to lose. (completely possible). Whatever happens, I have to say that I better NEVER EVER hear one of you pups complain about not having a play-off system. If a play-off system existed, you would not be in it this year (cause you finished 3rd in your conference). BCS is doing you right (whether you play for a nat'l champ. or not). Ask yourself, would you really trade the couple million you'll get from the BCS game for a playoff system where you'd spend the rest of the holidays practicing for next year?
hahaha, Liz! It's Hollie. How do you do it? How? How do you keep up with all this football talk? I mean, you're good at it girl. Go girl!
I was going to confirm that about Mizzou and West Virginia losing. You're not crazy at all. One radio announcer on ESPN national station actualy predicted that it would happen and we would play Ohio State for the National Championship.
Liz, you're half right.. but you're assuming that they would create the playoff system around conference standings alone. There are too many teams for a some sort of ranking system to not be involved in some capacity. Playoff system would only take 1.5 weeks longer if you take 8 teams and use the first bowl week.
btw.. you are an awesome football chick liz
