11 months

Laney is a few days past 11 months old!!!! Yeah!!!! Can you believe I almost have a one year old?

Laney is only two minutes away from walking! She's so close, and Hugh said she took a step this morning in our tiny bathroom! Amazing! She lets go of what she's holding onto for a good while and that is giving her confidence. Here she is letting go of the fridge. I think this picture is hilarious! It looks like she's doing her smooth karate moves!

The other day Laney was eating her cheerios. I asked her, "Can Mama have one" as I held my mouth open. She looked at the next cheerio her little tiny fingers picked up, looked at me and then fed me a cheerio. It was sweet! She then fed Hugh about a million cheerios, and the next day she fed her Nana.

In the previous post, you saw her "Where's Laney" act, where she holds up a towel in front of her face when we say, "Where's Laney?" Then she'll pull it down and smile so so big when we say, "There she is!" If you didn't see the video, check it out.

Laney has four teeth now, the top two teeth and the bottom two teeth. Her look has changed so much since those top two teeth have come in. It's exciting, but at the same time, she's growing up too quickly. Time really didn't fly by too fast the first seven or eight months, and that's probably due to the fact that I was knee-deep in long-suffering: NO SLEEP. :) However, this last quarter of her first year has flown by so fast, I just can't believe it and so many changes have taken place within the 9th-12th month!

I'm happy to say that Laney has been sleeping through the night since nine months. What a difference sleep makes. Wow. I love it! Putting Laney down for the night is the easiest thing now. She knows that after her bath in the evening, "night-night" is just around the corner. We get her dressed, read a very short book, say our prayers and she drinks her milk until she's content. I burp her, kiss her all over her face, tell her I love her and by that point, she's basically reaching for her crib. I lay her down, give her her pacifier, cover her with her blanket and although she's still awake, I don't hear another peep out of her. She's lift her head and watch me leave the room and close the door. We are soo blessed! This time change has really messed us up though. She's waking up around 5:30 every morning, when it used to be 6:30 or 7:00. So, to all of you parents out there, how do I fix this? No matter what time I put her to sleep, she still wakes up at that time.

Laney's hair is getting longer, and I am LOVING IT! I put a barrett in her hair the other day, Pebbles-style. Oh, it's going to be so much fun fixing her beautiful hair. I love having a girl!

She's talking up a storm to her toys and making up tons of new "baby words". Our new word "Uh-Oh". If you only could hear this sweet, little "Uh-oh". It melts my heart every time. She's also in the "ooooo" stage, where she sounds like a little owl. In the next two pictures, I caught her "oooo-ing".

Look at that bottom lip! So precious! That's definitely Hugh's bottom lip. I can see that lip puckered out in the future. With a few crocodile tears, sad eyes, and that puckered lip, Hugh won't be able to stand it!

Laney loves to chew on her shoes. This shoe hasn't been worn really, so I let her chew on it. Nothing like the taste of a plastic/rubbery sole.

The telephone is another good "snack."

Saturday afternoon, Stephanie Lyon(in the blue below) and myself threw Dawn Gunnels, a true friend from years back in college, a baby shower. She's expecting her second baby Brantley New Year's Eve. We are praying that her pregnancy goes to full term so that Brantly is prepared fully (all of his organs and esp his lungs since those are the last to develop) to enter this world. Thanks Stephanie for all of your hard work helping throw this shower. Dawn, we love you and are excited about Brantley's arrival.

I'm sorry Dawn that the centerpiece is cutting part of your face off. The other picture wasn't good, so I had to post this one.

Here's Stephanie and I sporting our blue!

hollie Re: time change. it took us about a week to get back on track. J was usually waking at 7:30 so when it changed to 6:30 it wasnt fun. i left him in the bed for a few extra minutes each am even though i knew he was up. i also put him down just a bit later (like 15 min) each night. just like it takes our bodies awhile i think it takes theirs a bit. this weekend he started waking up at his normal 7:30 though.

laney is lookin so cute. do you have a big ole bday party planned? cant believe she's almost walking. get ready girl!

Wow, Laney is going to be strutting her stuff all over your house so soon!

Jasper has been waking up at 5:30 for about a week before the time change and last week as well. Yikes. Go figure. He sleeps 11 hrs but I'm always going for 12, which is not unreasonable I don't think! Ahhh, I don't know.

Have fun!

so fun with the "ooooh" comments. Will does that a lot and I just LOVE it. She is too cute and congrats on the walking! I am so glad Will is finally walking and I don't have to clean black hands, feet and legs from crawling everywhere! :)

Girl, I couldn't agree more with your comments on my blog - they do favor SO much. I see so many of Lydia's expressions in Laney and they are both always smiling, playing, and going, going, going! Lydia LOVES to go "oooh, oooh, ooooh" especially when she sees an animal. It is just SO precious. Just this past weekend she's starting coming up to me, pulling my leg, and saying, "mama!"
