This past month, we invested in the best baby carrier known to mankind. I've tried and TRIED tons of baby carriers and to no avail. My shoulders would hurt me in no time, thus making it not a pleasant experience to "wear my baby," as the saying goes. I think it's so healthy for Laney to be close to Mama as much as possible. I unfortunately can't carry her all the time, for there are so many things still to do at home: cleaning the house, laundering(I could stop there, for just those two alone wear me out), washing bottles, pumping, talking on the phone, paying bills, going grocery shopping, and we haven't even touched on anything that I consider a hobby(gardening, blogging, writing letters to friends and family, taking pictures..etc..)With the Ergo Carrier, I can do all of these things and more. I can strap her in front, on my hip or on my back. All the weight is distributed on my hips, like a hiking backpack. The shoulder straps are sooo comfortable and padded, but I feel no weight there at all. When she falls alseep, there's a hood that comes out of the front pocket to hold her wobbly, sleepy head close to Mama's chest. This feature can be used on the front or the back carry position. You can also carry newborns in this carrier like you would in a sling. You have to buy the infant insert and they are carried comfortably in the infant cushion inside the Ergo in sling fashion. It has a zippered pocket for my keys, wallet, cell phone...whatever. It also has accessories that you can buy to match, like the backpack that straps on the back of the carrier, so it looks like one carrier and you don't have to carry a bag while carrying your baby. They also sell other little compartments that attach to straps, have diaper bags and totes to match your material. I HIGHLY recommend this carrier. HIGHLY. Now, it's $92 and it's never on sale. Never. All the stores that carry Ergos have to sell it at $92. We sold a big piece of furniture in our house and used that money to go get the carrier. Don't waste your money on little imitation carriers...you'll be disappointed in the long run. The Ergo is amazing! If you don't mind spending this much for a gift, it'd be the best gift EVER. (I will have to get Hugh to take some more pictures of Laney in the Ergo. She loves it and is very comfortable in it. She bucked in all of the other carriers.)

Look at how big my baby is getting!!!!! At her six month appointment, she was 15 lbs .5 ounces. No telling how much she weighs now. She's going through a growth spurt b/c she's drinking full bottles every 2 hours!!!

Laney had just woken up, so she has sleepy Laney eyes here. How cute!

Look at my little girl with her hair up in a towel! :) Looks like she has alot of hair, but we all know she's still sporting the fuzz....:)

Wow! You're giving great product ideas. I need to start making a list! Laney is getting more and more beautiful. I wish I could meet her in person! Miss ya'll!
SOLD!! I want one! I'll have to make sure this makes our list because with having 2 babies, I will need something to keep baby boy close. Thanks so much for the recommendation!!
hollie,
i've heard great things about these....maybe for the next one. cannot imagine hauling a 29 lb boy around in one. however, i did find them on ebay...and the accessories were listed there too. may want to check Ebay for any accessories you need. i LOVE ebay!
I had heard they are good carriers. I may have to get one too :) Thanks for sharing all the info!
we LOVE our ergo!!! Will does too...its the only way I can grocery shop with him. He will have nothing to do with the cart or stroller...but is pretty content in the ergo! It is the only baby carrier/sling that has NEVER hurt my back.
I'm glad you like your Ergo - I've heard lots of great things about them. I will say, though, that I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss other baby carriers. I wear Samuel in a pouch sling, a ring sling, and a mei tai. He is up to 18 pounds now, and I haven't ever had problems wearing him. The Ergo is definitely the Cadillac of baby wearing, but when you don't have $90 to spend, the others are an economical way to achieve the same benefits of babywearing. Just a thought...
She just looks like a bundle of joy!
Hi Holly,
This is Leah's mom. I link to your blog occasionally from Leah's. I just wanted to tell you what an adorable baby Laney is. Wow, all these babies are growing up fast!
Hi there! I went ahead based upon your recommendation and got the baby carrier! Thanks!
Oh, and you've been TAGGED! See my blog for details. :)
Hollie & Hugh: Thank you so much for sharing the pictures of your lovely little one! Miss you so much! Auntie Lisa - Virginia
