It was my turn to take Daisy out to use the bathroom this morning, so I hardly saw Hugh, as we both scurried about the house getting ready, eating breakfast...you know, the normal routine. I kissed Hugh goodbye, for he had class at 7:30. I was wrapping things up myself, checking my school email before heading out. After putting my cereal bowl in the kitchen, I told Daisy to kennel up, put my shoes on, and grabbed my purse, all dressed and ready to head to school, pleased that I was leaving on time. Finally! No hustle'n and bustle'n, hoping to squeeze through the next green traffic light, so that I can have a smooth morning at school. I had to get there early enough to make copies of all the tests I was to give to my students today. I grabbed my bag of goodies that I needed to take with me. I was all ready to go! Last but not least, I glaced toward the little wooden bowl by the door, the faithful spot where my keys always abide. They weren't there. My heart sunk. "How could this be??!!! Breathe deep Hollie, breathe deep. Surely they are somewhere," I thought, "just look around." Suddenly, I remembered seeing them behind the driver's seat IN HUGH'S CAR, from our date last night. DOH!!! He was at the seminary, parked who knows where, in class, with his phone OFF. We do not have any friends nearby to take me to school. I ran back up to our apartment and began searching for my other purse that I use, hoping to find a spare key. Ah-ha!! I found one alright, but it was the spare to Hugh's Honda!!!! AHH!!! The plot thickens. I had a pretty clear head at that point, believe it or not. I was bummed out, but I had a clear plan of action. I thought, "Well, I'm going to put on my more comfortable shoes and start running to see if I can find Hugh's car. What other choice do I have?" So, off I went, booking it down the street, in my skirt with purse in hand until I reached the Seminary, a little over a mile away. I had to leave our house unlocked with Daisy in her crate. I was passing all of the morning joggers, in mittens, hats, gloves, and their dogs....and there I was in my dressy work clothes, running like a pro. Ha! I thought it was a bit humorous seeing me out there with the high-arm-swing'n power walkers and runners. LOL. I went to several spots where Hugh usually parks, and of course, the Honda wasn't in any of these places. So, I kept runnig to other far off parking lots. All of a sudden, I saw a green beauty sparkling in the sun, sitting in all its glory on the side of the road!!!! I've never been so happy to see our little Honda. I jumped in, and started heading back home, still panting and perspiring just a tad, but oh so happy! I ran up the stairs, locked the door, hopped in the car and headed to school, just in time to make it to work, make my copies and sit down for a minute. What a start to my Thursday!!! The only big stink was that Hugh would walk out of class to find out that he had to walk home. He couldn't have picked a better day to walk home though. It's beautiful, bright, sunny with the perfect temp outside! The leaves are gorgeous in their awesome colors.....so, I'm thankful...that wasn't too bad of an ending to my crazy morning!

Hollie, your life experiences and optimism never cease to amaze me. I laughed so hard with the picture of you in your work clothes running with all of those other runners. And by the way, props on being able to run the entire way. Not everybody would have had such energy.
Only you Hollie!!!! LOL!!! Nothing like a good morning jog in your work clothes. I couldn't help but laugh and think back to how many times things like that have happened to you/us in college. Almost missing our finals still tops them all!!! Did you have any way of letting Hugh know that his car was going to be missing when he came out to get in it?
Love ya bunches!!! ~ Kimberly
