Attack of the Birds

(Written by Hollie)

yes, my friends, that's exactly what happened. crazy but true. really, the mama bird was just dish'n out some animosity toward our little daisy while on our walk on seminary campus. (btw, i need to put a pic of her on here. she's too cute not to.) so there we were, just-a walking when i hear, "Kaw-kaw" and a mama bird follow'n us down this one stretch of the seminary. i thought, "well, there's a protective mama-bird for ya. we'll be out of her territory in just a bit. who in their right mind wants to mess with a protective mama of any kind?" So, that was first round. Second time around the sem, I prepared myself to be stalked by the mama-bird. we're jogg'n by this point b/c we had warmed up already. i hear the "kaws" in the distance but out of clear nowhere, mama puts it in turbo speed and comes swoop'n to sink her claws into a "Daisy" patch. my reaction was hilarious to the on-looker, i'm sure. so, i yell out loud, not even thinking about the fact that i've never seen a bird with ears or one that would even heed to a call. i instantly turn directions thinking she'll be satisfied that she just controlled a human and her dog. then, another low swoop, one that makes you feel like you're living out the movie, "The Birds." I mean, c'mon...how do you control a bird? the thing has wings, by gosh! by now, we're sprinting to safe ground, but where is safe ground? at the same time, i'm scanning the area to see who had just witnessed the sight of a fool running from a bird. "Oh look," they say.."she must be a new student. she has fallen for protective mama-bird attack too. she'll hopefully grow out of it." LOL! needless to say, we won't be traveling down that stretch until hatching season is overwith. (i wonder if google could tell me when that will be. things that make you go hmm.)
that's all for now folks. just know that once you get into seminary life, you hit the ground running...literally.
