If you've never been to Blackshear, GA, all you have to do is imagine farm land, pecan trees, and maybe one gas station. LOL! I can't believe we already left for Waycross and are back now. Hugh was able to bring the Word to those youth at Emmanuel Baptist Church about making servanthood a lifestyle. There were about 70 youth there, and they were a very mature youth group at that. Some of the "missions" that they did on Saturday were to wash cars asking for NO DONATIONS, clean up the yard and house of a shut-in, sit with the elderly at a nursing home...etc.. While all of these things are great, I must admit that I don't take my Saturdays and go wash cars for free. As my husband and I drove 5.5 hours down to Waycross on Friday, we talked about this subject of serving. The reason the youth went out and did these things, was not so much to say this is what you have to do with your freetime, but this is one way to serve others any time. Having a life saturated with service does not mean that you religiously and legalistically go out and do all of these "deeds." A true servant works from the heart, and that was our goal this weekend, was to create a yearning and a desire in the hearts of those youth to serve one another. The Pharasees were a people group that were legalistic in their deeds, and we didn't drive all that way to create Pharasee's at Emmanuel Church. We desired a changed like Paul had when he went from Saul to Paul.....one where he had to change to make a difference in his world. We challenged the youth that you just can't go through life expecting everyone else to change and you make a difference. "Ya just can't do it cap-tain!" YOU must change, and ya know, that stinks sometimes. Our flesh just doesn't WANT to change, but once the change is made, you begin to see the fruits all around you. It's a lifestyle of servanthood, not a saturday-afternoon activity. We hope that they saw that this weekend. I was challeneged, for sure.
The new church in Dahlonega called, "The Church at Dahlonega" has just been rewarded with 6 months to have services at Park and Rec. Hugh and I have joined this church, for we trust and believe that the Lord is behind this church-start! We know He is, and though we are leaving, we expect the Lord to do GREAT things in Dahlonega. We have faced so much opposition, and in a way, that's good for we know that the enemy just doesn't want us here. If any of you are interested in visiting, please come and talk to Hollie about this! We'd love to have you on board!
Thanks for droppin in for some Carson Adventures! Blessings over your week-

Well, I sure am glad that I finally visited your "blog spot" only to find out that ya'll are going to Southeastern instead of where the really spiritual people go - Southwestern! J/K, we are REALLY excited for you guy's! I have to admit, being at the end of our seminary career sure is nice though! Be prepared for some of the most challenging yet awesome years of your life and your marriage. At least you'll be working full-time instead of both of you guy's being in seminary like we were. With you working ya'll will actually be considered "rich" by other seminary students who's wives are stay-at-home moms, etc. Oh, what a joy to know HE's sending out more laborers into His harvest field!!! Love you guy's!
